A Tale of Two Shades of White

Image
Have you ever watched Walt Disney’s: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Most likely you have, or at least know the general plot. But have you read the Grimm Brothers version? If you have, then you know they are extremely different from each other. Walt Disney alternated the story and added his own style to it. Let’s go further into how and why he changed the classic tale. In the 1944 release of Disney’s Snow White, Disney portrayed the Dwarfs as hard-working miners, with names and characteristics. The evil queen only comes once with a poison apple. The prince appears in the beginning and sings a love ballad to Snow White on a white horse & is honestly a lot more relevant compared to the Grimm’s tale. He also kisses Snow White awake. In the Disney version, Snow White is also an orphan because both of her parents are dead. When she finds the Dwarf’s house she cleans it for them, hoping they’d let her stay. And lastly, the queen dies from trying to kill the Dwarfs with a giant bould...

(blog 4) Rags to Riches - Real or Wrong

kobeblog4blogspot.com   Rags to Riches - Real or Wrong Cinderella was an amazing tale. I think we can all agree that it’s undoubtedly unforgettable. The tale of Cinderella was about a sweet, hardworking girl girl who was a nobody and became a somebody thanks to magic and marriage. I’m sure we can all find a way to relate to this story at a certain degree. But the truth is, this kind of stuff just doesn’t happen in real life. Therefore it’s not very realistic. Or is it? Cinderella’s general story, whether it be from the books or movies, was about a girl who’s parents were vaguely in the picture or not in the picture at all. Her mother passed away, her dad remarried to another woman, and they moved in with her & her two daughters. Cinderella’s now stepmother and stepsisters were very cruel. They made her do all their cooking, cleaning, and washing. Plus on top of that, they were extremely mean to her. That couldn’t have been me, I would’ve put them in their place a...

Real Or Fake: The Tale Of The Grimm Brothers

Image
Within the film, "The Brothers Grimm" and the novel, "The Brothers Grimm: From Enchanted Forests To The Modern World", there were a lot of similarities but also a lot of differences. The movie definitely incorporated situations and circumstances for the brothers lives that didn't happen to them whatsoever in real life, according to the book. Of course though this was all for entertainment purposes so Hollywood could make an exciting film. Let's go deeper into how the two story tellings were so different. Starting off by reading the book, I learned that the Grimm brothers grew up with their mom, dad, and 4 other siblings. Their dad worked as a lawyer but soon passed. Since then, the family was taken cared of by the brothers' aunt and grandpa. Soon after, the brothers attended high school and were top of their class. They wanted to be lawyers just like their father was. The brothers were always super close and were known for being scholars, and of ...

Hello, my name is Kobe Morrison and I have NEVER written a blog before. I'm pretty good at telling stories verbally and on paper, I guess; but this is really different. I'm up for the challenge though. Anyways, I chose this first year seminar class because I absolutely love Disney. I'm a huge Disney fanatic and have been ever since I was little. My goal as an actor is to actually work for Disney and be on a Disney Channel show or Walt Disney movie. Disney inspires me in all forms of art that I do, but i'm not crazy though, I promise. It's just something that's always stuck to me. What i'm hoping to get from this class is a new understanding of fairy tale origins because I knew that they came from the Grim brothers, and I haven't heard much about each one. I just know that they are really gruesome and definitely doesn't have the happily ever after Disney polish at the end. I want to know what happens in the stories. I never thought about what ...
